Louise Lanzi View Designs

Louise Lanzi is an American goldsmith living in Italy who has been making 18ct gold jewellery with a variety of colourful semiprecious stones for over ten years.

Living and working in an area that has through the ages been closely associated with the finest Italian goldsmiths, swordsmiths and master craftsmen, her collection reflects the best of old and new in a perfect fusion of contemporary and historical design ideals and techniques.

Resident in Milan for over 15 years she started work as a stylist, researcher and set designer for several important advertising agencies. It was only in 1990 that she decided to become a goldsmith and undertook courses of specialization in Italy and New York. In 1996 she presented her first collection and was soon collaborating with such names as Calvin Klein and Moschino.

"The true colour of gold is beautiful", says Louise. "but what we often encounter are not the natural effects of gold but those of industrial finishes. As a result we have forgotten the true luminosity of gold."

Working in complete harmony with the nature of her materials Louise produces jewellery that meets the demands of the best of today's eclectic tastes. Every detail is carefully conceived and executed: clasps for example are all handmade. The soft brush finishes have a warm glow and all work is carried out by the best Italian craftsmen with gemstones cut to her specific jewellery design.

Louise Lanzi's work plays with asymmetry, curve, edge and slant alternating between determination and softness and always delving into geometry. Her jewellery is original and modern with a look to the past and the future.
