18ct green gold, green tourmaline
W 8cm approx
Ref: CdS5649

Begun as an experiment this brooch demonstrates that tourmaline can take deep engraving in a carved surface. the back of the brooch is convex allowing light to play off the 18ct gold back plate. The challenge was to bring out the sgraffito shapes incised in the gemstone giving life to its natural inclusions.
