Soldering
Soldering forms a solid and invisible union between separate pieces of metal, and is the most common technique in jewellery making for joining. Solder, an alloy, melts before the metals used in order to join them together.

Rivets
The origins of rivets are more ancient than that of soldering, and are based on the principle of the malleability and deformation of cold metal. Riveting consists of forcing an annealed piece of metal, usually a wire, into a tight space until the wire’s shape conforms to that of the space, and cannot fall out.
